I am a lawyer in New York City, where not a good job. Can someone help me?

I do not expect someone to hand me a job on a silver platter, but good ideas would be greatly appreciated. I graduated from a top school, but it was the state and therefore non-existent to New York lawyers. I had average grades and Awards for public service. My school CSO is useless to find only jobs in St. Louis, and is not part of New York City. I have as an assistant attorney worked for several years to pay the bills, but now I feel like a "temp" was labeled and thus inviolable. The work is not marketable Experience. I'm not looking for a big company or an associated ADA. I know this is not likely. I do not expect to get 100 grand a year. I want a job that can pay me for my student loans and rent. If I do I'll try to bankruptcy for so much of my other debt, how can I explain. I a job that teaches me something like, in other words have invested in me. I volunteered for two years at the law school in SSD. I have no connections in New York. Any ideas?

Are you passionate about as a lawyer or do you simply only use your law degree? I went to a Tier 4 Law School and graduated with average / marginal types, but were constantly busy (which is big money!) Has been completed. I am a licensed attorney and living in The Pacific Northwest. However, I decided I really did not want law firm (at least traditionally) so I turned to companies lacking someone with a legal background for different positions. Currently I am a Contracts Administrator with a large hi-tech company and it rocks. No billable hours or to work weekends. I have it all good now. It is not very fulfilling dealing with contracts, but with 1-3 years I can experience up. JD a plus BAR license plus business experience is gold. And since I do not Lust, ever set foot in a company …. My plan does have quite good. What I am suggesting that a non-traditional career path with your law degree to be considered. Perhaps you are not "marketable" to business, but you certainly are marketable to a public company. I had 2-3 years of various legal experience (including time) and was selected over 15 candidates because I have the JD plus BAR. The Company considers all of my experiences (temp, short-term, school, hospital and law, etc.). Here are some hot areas for lawyers looking traidtional not work: real estate, zoning specialists, wireless industry, Compliance, HR, sales, management positions, contracts and public relations. I was looking for a job as a Contracts Manager and came up with my current job with Monster.com. While the contract work is not my destiny … Of course I can pay my bills while gaining experience is that in fact "marketable". Good luck !!!!! ps I have not made at 65K (well think about it now) since the float of the business route. pss may have to expand Your search nationwide. However, the more flexible you are better. I can not imagine not working in a position to find in NYC but. They have a ton of Compliance Jobs (50K-200K).
