Many years ago we lived in a small town in northern British Columbia, but I was preparing for an exhibition in Vancouver. I went for the opening. It was wonderful friends came and I met other people I knew. One of my paintings hung directly next to an ink drawing created by none other than Sarah McLachlan.

I drove back to the north and a few days later, the gallery owner called to let me know that one of my pictures had been sold! Wonderful! A few days later she called once to ask myself if someone could come back to my gallery of pictures of her because she filing for bankruptcy? She said that I am one of the "lucky" because I was a 'phone call ever! Luckily I had a friend who was ready to get my pictures. Of course, I've never seen the money for the sold Paintings.

A few months later we had arrived at lunch with a friend at the opening. This friend is a dentist and their practice is located in addition to a doctor's office. I told her how the gallery was one of my pieces sold, but was also the opening of insolvency proceedings and that I had not my money get. My friend smiled and said: "I know where your painting is purchased by the doctor next door and hang it in his practice! "It was so surreal to hear! It was really great to know, ended up where my painting, but I would still like to be paid! I was tempted to go and tell the doctor, but I noticed that it not be Problem! I am also of course now!

I was born in St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, B.C. A few years later we moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, where I spent my childhood and early adulthood. However, I was always extremely homesick and finally in 1982 I moved back to Vancouver, B.C. I love living near the ocean. It gives me a great feeling of freedom, which influences my painting immensely.

I remember the first award I received was in Art class in grade 10. The superintendent of the Winnipeg School Board bought one of my paintings! I was so excited!

Nine months after moving to Vancouver, I met my future husband. He was a Polish Navy Officer, named Andrew, who had jumped ship in 1982. We are married and have been together for twenty-five years, and have one son, Johnny.

Before attending The Emily Carr College of Art and Design, I spent a whole intense year drawing from nature and studying human anatomy; figurative drawing and painting.

I especially loved drawing portraits. I enjoyed going beyond the face and capturing the person’s soul.

I received my BFA at Emily Carr College of Art and Design and spent another year studying philosophy at The University of British Columbia. During this time my husband learned English, drove a taxi, received his BMLS degree (Bachelor of Medical Lab. Sciences) and received his DMD degree (dentist).

Another award I received was First Prize at the Pacific Northwest Annual Show at the University of Oregon, U.S.A. The University bought my painting and it is now in their permanent collection.
