Is Obama really "get it" for health care reform?
Let's brainstorm on health care reform.
Time outside the box and Beyond. What follows is a "what if" discussion This could help us new solutions to existing problems of national interest. If the following Figures are somewhat imprecise, it should not matter.
Premise: There are three major obstacles in the way of Obama's health care reform.
First is that solutions based on more government efficiency and anti-anti economy. The Russian experience with communism proves that "What is in it for me" and "use all available Performance of the brain are better ways to get good solutions.
Second is poor transfer of information, including the Internet. Perhaps that problem is in our education system. Ownership is simply the best approach to health care through prevention is based on good habits. Despite this people still want to lose weight, while food will find all the calories they can to be healthy and while smoking, vegetating in front of the television and drinking too much alcohol and sugary drinks.
Third, the greed. Pharmaceutical companies, we are able on the pills, which sell for less effective as a good life style, and to encourage other companies still worthless herbal pills and magic weight loss products. Imagine placebos, sugar pills, for 10 cents per hundred, including packaging. Charge $ 1 per pill and recommend a pill per day. 90 cents times 365 days per year income is $ 328.50 per year. Of course, most magic pills are sold for much higher prices, and far more than one person. Re stated that the calculation for n – million people, where n is in the range 1 to 316 (U.S. 2008).
Here is an approach to health reform that only work could. It can not be less effective than all the policy already tried.
1st Go for the national health systems, known as free health insurance.
Remove all restrictions on payments out of pocket for medical care as Medicare now make such a frustrating tangle. (Let individual choice warn us, if not the national programs are cost effective.)
2nd Speed up deliberations by the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) for approval of new drugs and Verification of previous authorizations. An honest, no clinical trials sponsored by author or publisher bribed. Demand full disclosure of all claims and evidence available on the Internet, both for on-and off-label use.
3rd Deny free health smokes who is overweight, not exercising at least with a daily walk two miles, taking every recreational drug, and generally ignored basic health common sense. Of course, the fast food industry going reform or under.
4th When we are at it, we also want to wipe the major incentive for most of organized crime. Make all drugs available at very low cost with no legal restrictions on use. And emphasize to paragraph. One option would be to tax such drugs how we do it now, tobacco and alcohol.
5th Now take all the money currently being spent to fight illegal drugs, plus funds from "sin" taxes on tobacco, alcohol, plus the proposed decriminalizing drugs and apply for the free national health insurance paid.
What are ballpark dollar amounts for this discussion? Even with help Internet search engines, are the following figures are rough estimates.
We spend almost 12000000000 $ per year to illegal Drugs, plus several times that for the prosecution of dealers and users, prisons, government employees and related work of the police. The total combat is estimated to be in the order of $ 50000000000 per year drug war. How much to spend on the actual drugs is difficult to estimate, but probably several times as much. For the discussion, say $ 100 to $ 200,000,000,000. (Wow!)
Obama has said that "Health Care sixth of our Economy … "
The U.S. GDP for 2008 was estimated on the order of 14 trillion U.S. dollars, so that means about $ 840,000,000,000, or about $ 3,000 per head of population of around 300 million U.S. population. (This is actually not a bad average if they are true.)
So, we say, we transferred approximately $ 100 up to 250 billion U.S. dollars one year war against drugs and drug purchases. Might talk about 12-29 percent of the cost of health care. Not enough to "free insurance" really free, but probably enough to keep the trust fund for Medicare and Social Security from bankruptcy shortly.
This thread is just a fantasy? Maybe. But so are all government programs to combat drugs and medical care to our masses.
Remember the great Prohibition on Alcohol did not work, but to do awareness programs and self-help groups. One element of personal responsibility is important.
