Why do we need lawyers for bankruptcy?

If you can make your own taxes, then why do not we fill the bankruptcy forms from ourselves?

You can. However, if a creditor sends her own attorney, your attorney defend you. When I went to bankruptcy court, the guy, the case was owed before my money, a rental place (where you rent furniture, TV, etc.). The rental store sent their lawyer and he was merciless heat on this guy. I was glad I had a lawyer, although none of my creditors' lawyers showed up in court.
