Knoxville apartments for graduate student: Quiet & Safe (living?)?
Knoxville, I was accepted to a PhD program at the University of Tennessee in. My scholarship comes out to about $ 1000/month (and I can borrow – but I would rather not). What is the cost of living in Knoxville, TN? My credit is terrible – so I will probably not be approved for a home … There are many individual / sole proprietor owners in the area so that I do not have to go through the tires of life in one of these big apartment complexes? I own a home … But now, I have recently logged Bankruptcy – so, therefore I am concerned & to approval of the apartment thing credit. Also – How is Knoxville? Which side of the city is quiet and safe? I am an older student … degree I do not want to be in the mix "with the younger students!
What about costs for an apartment? If you know of any (especially mountain views), I would love that … Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Knoxville is ridiculously affordable compared to other parts of the country. You can usually has received a one-room apartment for about $ 500 a month or so. And there are many independent landlords that the University provides a lot. One quarter I think is great when at school in the Old North & Gill are Knox/4th area. It is just minutes from campus and there are some very cool that old building converted into flats were. When I was in school I was hired by Pittman Properties (Http: / / www.pittmanproperties.com/) and my place was spotlessly clean and very affordable. Check out their website. Hope that helps http://www.allaroundktown.com! Suzy T.
