Bankruptcy; can be a spouse, but not the other?
My husband almost bankrupt seven years ago, before we were married. I have a large amount of medical Bills that I can not pay (about $ 10, 000). Can I file bankruptcy on my own or does it have to be shared, since we are married? Does anyone know the Federal Code that?
I have personal experience in this wet I deleted through a terrible divorce in January 1996 and had to Chp 7, $ 65K then I have remarried a great gal with a few problems of its own bill, the file we tried to juggle several years, but we were overwhelmed, we do everything in their names, and they ranged Chp 7 in 2002, asked the judge why I am not listed on the bankruptcy and said my wife that I went in CHP-7 in 1996 before our wedding, and you can they only go through once every 7 years. So they had disbanded its debt and provide some medical bills from me that their insurance covered without question. Now we are financially stable have bought a house. its been 10 years since I will not appear on credit report filed, everything is okay. It would have been fine if it were not for vindictive ex-wife, But that's another story. do not stress, you will be okay.
