does bankruptcy affect tax returns

Can you still get your tax return and your money if you sign up for Bankruptcy?
I can not afford anymore. I have so many medical bills, to many other bills, my car was a year ago repo'd and then sold for $ 1000 just so that I still owe $ 13,000 on them. I think I owe like $ 10,000 in personal loans, and like $ 5000 in credit cards. I have like $ 10,000 in medical bills. That was all there at them for 5 months out and then find a job, and my husband got fixed in for 8 months. We were doing well until the events. Now he has found a job in August, but his Hours have been cut off and he loses days (he was charged as already 3 days of this period.) We are badly in debt and now see no way at this point. We have tries, debt counseling, debt settlement, lots. And we have paid a lot. We simply can not handle it anymore. If we become insolvent, based on our always a return this year? What happens if we return the file and then log in 2-3 months after bankruptcy?
A return should be filed. However, the refund may go to the bankruptcy estate and thus the creditors, rather than you.
