Am I responsible for the car loan?
I was married and recently divorced. In the divorce, my husband was given possession of a van and ordered To make payments on the van. He later filed for bankruptcy. The creditor is now trying to collect the van from me. I also have a vehicle loan from the same Creditors. The creditor can collect from me the debt that was discharged in his bankruptcy? What recourse do I against Jessica and the creditors? I live in Illinois. If You could argue, please right that supports your answers I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you for all your support!
The divorce Degrees did nothing to remove them from the loan. This allows the creditor to go after. The bankruptcy, because it happens after the divorce, you also take place in any way. As far as what You can do to your ex after that go to the time of divorce, bankruptcy will depend on, and if the creditor went after you. I would strongly recommend an attorney in this matter.
