I worked freelance for a client, for the bankruptcy. Is my money owed as wages and salaries?

I was an entrepreneur / Freelancers for an LLC, which recently filed bankruptcy before. The company owes me more than $ 3,500 for services rendered prior to its bankruptcy filing. Since I was a freelancer, my claim as "wages and salaries" – and enjoying priority in bankruptcy court? Or "wages and salaries" apply only to company employees (not contractors)? Thanks.

Wages and salaries refer to the staff not contractors.
