If two people are the names on a mortgage, and they are married, you will then bankrupt, what happens file?

My best friend is someone married she wants a divorce. you own a house and both names are on the mortgage market. Her husband wants to file bankruptcy cause he says he cannot afford it. It is determined to to keep her house. She is afraid that it will be to file bankruptcy as well. Does anyone know anything about this situation? She is also considering a divorce. What for an effect, married or getting a divorce have a mortgage on two persons on going? What are the options here? Say they get, the divorce, her husband buy the house by the process and again with their lives. If they can not afford the home buyout from the deadbeat, can divide and sell the house.
