Are medical bills covered in a chapter 7 bankruptcy?

I have about $12,000 in medical bills and was wondering if I could include them in a chapter 7 if I decided to file.

Medical bills are unsecured debt. They can be included in a Ch. 7 bankruptcy. The trustee may inquire as to whether they were insured and whether the claim was properly submitted. If you received a check from the insurance company to pay the medical bills the trustee will want those funds. Otherwise, they will be discharged.
