bankruptcy how long to discharge

How long after bankruptcy, you should wait to try to buy another house?
We filed for bankruptcy in October 2006 and it was finally closed or I guess I should say, dismissed in May 2007. We really want to buy another house, but I was told we have to wait until 7 months to a year to try to to get another mortgage. What is the normal waiting time and the interest rates better the longer we wait?
You can buy another house, but your credit card has been affected adversely impacted by the bankruptcy and will continue for several years. Perhaps the best solution would be to credit your work on the restoration. A Another alternative would be the opportunity to find leasing. In this situation part of "rent" is actually used to purchase the house. Contact some local real estate agents to see if they have any ads that might entertain this alternative.
