Do I have too much debt for a debt management plan?

Right now my monthly payments on all my bills total more than what I deserve and bring home every month. I make ends meet on my payments are usually too late, etc. I have an appointment in a few weeks to get to someone , Go talk with Consumer Credit Counseling Services on a debt management plan. Who knows if it will even be able to help me because my payments more than my salary are? Bankruptcy is not something I'm prepared to look, because I would at a bank and the work is likely to lose my job.
